Go For College 2005
MENTOR/Los Angeles Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR/LAMP) held their Go For College 2005, a college preparatory workshop for L.A. public high school students designed to provide guidance on the college admissions process and to encourage the pursuit of higher education. Speakers Peter Chernin and Mayor Villaraigosa will be speaking to L.A. youth on the importance of attending college and obtaining a college degree.
College counselors from local private schools and admissions officers from Ivy League Universities will be on hand to help students navigate the application process, curriculum options, financial aid opportunities, scholarships, standardized tests, and other key issues related to pursuing a college education. MENTOR/Los Angeles Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR/LAMP) will also be giving away T-shirts, backpacks, notebooks, and college prep materials to students attending Go For College. MENTOR/Los Angeles Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR/LAMP) has also pledged to give every student who enrolls in college in the Fall of 2006 a laptop computer, sponsored by the generous support of Hewlett-Packard. Local City Councilmember’s will provide bus transportation to L.A. youth to attend this one-day event.
